You may have noticed I haven't decided what to title these posts. I'm not exactly an instructor, nor am I providing instruction. I think "demonstration" probably best sums up what I'm doing. I'm not saying anyone should do what I do. I'm just doing it and showing you the process. I hope you get something from it, and keep coming back!
In this one, I suddenly felt that the railing was too large, and tilted a bit in the wrong direction. It's tricky to get a bunch of lines to converge in just the right way. In doing so, I increased the size of the floor of the porch. So I took the opportunity to repaint it and to get the colors better. I removed the detail because I realized the railing was covered by tarps in reality. I'm not happy with it yet. Then I moved to the corbels below, and gave some texture to the stone face below those.
I worked on the top part of the building, too, fixing the spot where the railing had been, and trying to show the proper details, which is two sets of simple columns on either side. Needs some more work. This was about 30 minutes this morning, and another 15 from last night. Sometimes It's good to make a major change, cover something with a thin coating of white paint, and leave it overnight. By morning it will be dry enough to cover with new paint without the original image showing through.
