Gustave Caillebotte lived from 1848 to 1894. He was a wealthy man who painted his artworks with a lot of originality.
Above you can see one of his best works, in my view. The men planing the floor are seen from an unusual angle. There is a sense of comradery and teamwork about the scene which I think is charming.
The way the light plays on the men's backs and the floor makes the painting a masterpiece for me.

Caillebotte was also a skilled painter of people as you can see in the artwork shown above. The card players have their eyes on the game, giving the painting atmosphere. I bet it stank in there with those pipes going!

Sunflowers in the Garden at Petit Gennevilliers
Caillebotte could also paint nature very well. You can see the impressionistic techniques he used on the sunflowers above. I love the straight lines of the house in the background contrasting with the wildness of the sunflowers.

I never heard of Gustave Caillebotte before. I love how he captured every tiny detail perfectly.
