Eugine Boudin was a French artist who lived from 1824 to 1898. As his career developed he spent a lot of time in Normandy where he liked to paint along the coastline.
Boudin was one of the forerunners of Impressionism.
Boudin started his art career as an art shopkeeper, selling art materials and prints. As he wanted to be a painter himself, he spent two years in the Louvre Gallery, where he copied works be great artists. He soon became aware from this that being cooped up inside was not the way he wanted to paint so he started painting outside.
This was his mega contribution to Impressionism that was having its birth.
To this day, many artists paint 'en plein air' (outside). Boudin is known for being the first to break away from the studio.
I'm going to show you some of my favourite paintings by Boudin.
I love the way Boudin captures the light in the clouds and water in the above painting. To me, the scene is wonderful!
In the above painting, it is the picture Boudin creates of the everyday life of his time. For me, it's way better than any photo.
I absolutely love this painting! If you don't want to paint faces, just leave them out! It's priceless!!
I will leave you with this great photo of Eugene Boudin at Deauville-Trouville in June 1896 enjoying some painting 'en plein air'.
Wasn’t Boudin an amazing artist? The way you write these articles up about these famous artist is so enjoyable to read @deemarshall. It’s so wonderful to learn more about these people. My favorite painting that he did was “on the beach”. Just imagine sitting on a sandy beach wearing a fancy dress and a beautiful feathered hat, wow! I’d be afraid of ruining my outfit❣️

Yes, they didn't even have washing machines and fabrics like we have today. It's amazing that they wore those hats too. I like that painting a lot :) Thank you for the upvote :)
