Abstract Dry Flowers Series
Here is the eighth mixed media painting from my dry flowers series.
This was done on a 7 x 7 inch (17.78 x 17.78 cm) wood canvas.
I used acrylic paint on the canvas and while it was still wet I placed a few dry flower petals onto the paint. For this artwork I used rose petals, they were originally white but changed color after they dried. I made a kind of spiderweb pattern with the wet paint around the petals. When the paint was dry I used polyurethane to give it a glossy finish and protect the dry flower petals.
Here is a video of me creating this artwork :)
very beautiful this is a very extraordinary art @dksart

Looks great! I enjoyed watching the video and you make it look easy! Do you have to seal it when it's done or do the leaves in the paint do that at the same time?

Thanks! The petals stick to the wet paint, so once the paint drys they are stuck on there forever... So I don't really have to use the polyurethane but I just like the glossy look it gives afterwards. It also protects the dry leafs/petals from further deterioration over time. Since they are exposed to air they probably would change color or crack over time...

Cool!! It looks really pretty as it is!! I've seen leaves discolor like you said so was wondering about that!! My father in law used to do a lot of art with leaves but never did any kind of sealing. He would always say "I'll just make another one with prettier leaves". He was a shop teacher in the school system so he always liked making things! Thanks @dksart!!
