When I finished up working with the kids at the Lacey United Methodist Church the other night, I decided to walk upstairs into the church and check out the Juried Art Show that is taking place this week until Saturday, November 16th. The show finishes on Saturday from 10AM until 3PM, which just happens to be the hours of their Harvest Festival. I refrained from taking pictures of the artwork because I didn't think it would be proper. I was immediately impressed with the pieces displayed within all different forms of media. If you live in the Lacey area of New Jersey, it is worth a stroll around the church to check out the talent from the area.

Anyone who knows me might be able to pick out which piece of artwork was my favorite. It was from the Children 12 and under category. It was an oil piece of a very cartoon-like shark done by James Pestrichello. My next pick within that same category would have been the pastel chalk work entitled "G 3 Spaceman." I noticed that this work of art by Gary Miles made quite a few patrons stop and stare.

Dawn Marie Kuch, who is overseeing the Harvest Festival had some nice acrylic pieces on display in the Adult Non-Professional category. What was very inspirational to me was the photographic entries, especially the American Bald Eagle by Karen Riley. It made me want to enter some of my photos in the next show. As with any art show, the beauty of the piece is all relative to the lover of art that happens to be inspired by the particular work. I would say that every entry was very impressive. It will be interesting to see what the judges think on the 16th.

The professionals who submitted entries were James M. Doremus, Beverly A. Eichler, Avram Shapiro, Dorothy M. Johnson, Elsa Herrmann, Janice D. Pedersen, Margaretta Lear-Svedman, Aline Sarapuchiello and Michael Sarapuchiello. Besides Kuch and Riley, the non-professional adults who brought in artwork included Tina Crepezzi, Patti R. Cadamatre, Catherine Kessler, Elaine Burnett, Barbara Marsh, Susan Piso, Ariana Sanchez, Deborah Gallehue and Sue Newman. Jake Baxter included his "Night Sail" water color among the Children 12 and Under pieces. The artistic eye of the three children who brought 7 pieces of artwork into their category was amazing!
