Happy Sunday! This page was originally a little creepier because I had described Hazel as being almost in a trance as she tried to figure out what this symbol was. I had initially written her as manic, but as time has gone on she has shifted towards simply being enthusiastic about the supernatural.
This shift occurred when I did some thinking on her character arc. Every character should have a lie that they fundamentally believe to be true, which informs who they are. By the end of the story you want them to confront that lie, and then change.
The lie that Hazel believes to be true is that the supernatural is exciting, and something positive to seek out. She thinks the answers she will find will be comforting. They will not be.
