Hey all, I'm thinking it may be time to do a trial run for a "Steemstarter" campaign. The edits are going smoothly, and Theresa and I will soon be adding pages to issue 1 of "Ithaqa".
Since this is an early trial run, I'm going to try and keep things as simple as possible. I'm open to using fundition (https://fundition.io/) if we think that it's a good idea. Or do we think we're better off just building out the "steemstarter" tag?
Goal: Across 15 days I would like to raise 100 SBD. If we do that I will publish the entire script of Issue 1 for everyone to read (along with all the art and letters that are already done).
Stretch Goal 1: If we raise 200 SBD, Theresa and I will consult with the top 5 Steemstarter Backers to develop a custom art print, based in the world of Ithaqa for everyone on steemit to download and enjoy.
Stretch Goal 2: If we, by some miracle, raise 500 SBD in 15 days, steemit will have paid for all of the new pages we need for issue 1. I'm open to suggestions for awesome rewards, but perhaps I could create Call of Cthulhu characters for the top 5 backers, and we could live stream a call of cthulhu session together? For all of steemit to watch and enjoy?
My initial idea for reward tiers would be:
- Tier 1 (Rat-thing): Sign up on the ithaqacomic.com website = receive 8 free pages of the comic.
- Tier 2 (Cultist): Over the course of the campaign (15 days) contribute 1 SBD = special thanks on our website
- Tier 3 (High Priest): Over the course of the campaign contribute 5 SBD = receive special digital poster
- Tier 4 (Flickering One): Contribute 10 SBD = I will read any script or story you're working on and provide constructive (and kind!) notes
- Tier 5 (Eldritch Being) Contribute 25 SBD = Special thanks printed inside the actual comic book
- Tier 6 (Iss-Nagish) Contribute 50 SBD = We will draw you into the comic book!
- Tier 7 (Maws of Madness) Contribute 100 SBD = I will write a custom Call of Cthulhu game scenario, based in the world of "Ithaqa" for you to play, and I will even be your game Keeper if you so desire.
I will also keep 2 ranking systems going:
One that will list the top 5 steemers in terms of money donated (which will be used to determine who gets a seat at the table in determining the outcomes of the stretch goals.
And one that shows the top 10 steemers in terms of # of upvotes. Anybody who upvotes every day of the steemstarter will automatically get boosted up to a Tier 3 (High Priest) backer status, and get the digital poster.
So how do we feel about this everyone? Are the rewards tantalizing enough? I'm open to suggestions before we pull the trigger on this. I'm thinking we'd maybe start next monday...
I've set up an email grab at https://www.ithaqacomic.com/contact-us/
If you sign up there, I'll send you 8 pages of the comic, fully lettered!
Additionally, If you're new to this comic I strongly recommend you check out our instagram, as I'm currently uploading pages from issue 1-2 there every day (this is issue 3).

First off, I'm ready for this... you know my voting finger will be on the trigger!
I think you should really consider running it through Fundition. Since I haven't yet played with their posting and campaign creation toolset myself yet, I do think it'll be a bit of a learning curve. But it can't hurt as it'll just cross post here to Steemit anyway, it'll give your users a visual tracking method of their own contributions, and expose people to another platform and foster some cross promotion. I think Fundition really needs to start showing some "wins" and you're the guy to shepherd a successful first campaign or two. I see far too many people playing around with Fundition so far that are just making one or two posts and disappointedly letting the campaign die when it needs a constant stream of posts and updates to allow for more voting targets and momentum. You'll need to take a closer look at how they're calculating "hearts" and the USD equivalent being displayed on their site... I should dig into that a bit myself... and adjust your reward tiers specifically for it.
I'd suggest you define exactly where rewards are going, x cost for each page of revisions needed etc. so folks know what's being funded and how the goal amount is arrived at. Since a Fundition campaign isn't time locked, I wouldn't choose an arbitrary 15 day limit, the goal $ amount should be the campaign ending with failure not an option... it's just a matter of how long it takes to get there! I'd suggest just doing the 500 you need outright, and also defining what that will mean. With funding complete for issue #1 production will that then see at least a digital release? Free digital copies as a rewards tier perhaps?
I'm also still in for providing a guest artist original art rewards tier if you're keen on it. Maybe others in the community can also contribute some items or services to add to the rewards tiers.
Pizza dude will be here soon! Lemmeknow your thoughts! Glad to see you moving forward on this!

From a "backer" standpoint, IMO yes.
I fully agree with bryan-imhoff on this point, "Fundition really needs to start showing some "wins" and you're the guy to shepherd a successful first campaign or two. "
Between you and Theresa, you have a notable presence here already. You two could easily draw in enough steemians to make this a successful Fundition campaign. And from there, who knows ;-D
