Yesterday I finally had the time to get back to my art studio, and made a lot of progress on my current work in progress. It's a little hard to see in my medium to long shots of the work, but I paint fine repeating lines over solid chunks of colour which takes quite a lot of patience and a steady hand.
Here are some progress shots from my painting session...
While working I half watched some Netflix and Youtube, mostly tuning out and focusing intensely on painting. Five hours flew by and I needed to head home. Since I'm working with Acrylics instead of my usual Watercolours, I try to use up the paint I've mixed before leaving my studio for the day. There's no "re-wetting" acrylics, which will dry overnight, so anything not used is wasted. I decided to lay down a simple background for another piece. I watered down the paint quite a lot, which is generally not good for acrylics as you can "underbind" the paint. However, this tends to be fine when painting on an adsorbent material like paper.
I generally like to leave my studio around sunset, as it's in a relatively unlit industrial complex, and I don't feel like tripping and faceplanting in the dark.
Another nice thing about leaving at sunset it I can get some pretty cool photos of the neglected and harsh architecture around my studio...
Needless to say I made it home safe and un-faceplanted. <3
