How does it works ?
(Fr) Comment cela fonctionne ?

In geometry, a parametric equation is an equation defining a geometric figure like the one above.
(Fr) En géométrie, une équation paramétrique est une équation définissant une figure géométrique comme celle ci-dessus.

There are as many equation as dimension, so for a figure in the plane like this one, there will be 2 lines: To define x and y (horizontal and vertical).
(Fr) Il y a autant d'équation que de dimension, donc pour une figure dans le plan comme celle-ci, il y aura 2 lignes: Pour définir x et y (horizontal et vertical).

There is an exemple :
(Fr) Voici un exemple.

Several values are calculated, e. g. for :
(Fr) On calcule plusieurs valeurs, par exemple pour :

That one's just a straight line, 2 points would have been enough.
(Fr) Celui-là n'est qu'une ligne droite, 2 points auraient suffi.

Thus with much more difficult functions, we can obtain very beautiful plots such as these :
