The colors, Duke! The colors!
Digital collage made using freeware: Inkscape, OpenOffice Draw

The idea to create a collage for this challenge came from chatting with @ddschteinn and seeing @dreemit's Steemit Anniversary Collage last month. I give thanks to both for sharing!

Here are a couple of screenshots from my collage process. (Next time I'll remember to take more from the beginning to give a better overview of "start" to "finish".)

This is a straightforward personal creativity challenge started by @tonyr. Every form of artistic expression is invited.

Challenge guidelines:
Create an original work every day for 26 days.
The subject matter of the first days work must start with the letter 'A', day 2 with the letter 'B' and so on until you reach the letter 'Z' on day 26. If you miss a day it's back to the start.

In case you haven't seen...Super Saiyan @benja has also chosen to undertake this challenge! He's off to an excellent start, check out his first few days:
Alphabet Art Challenge Day 1 - Astronaut
Alphabet Art Challenge Day 2 - Blobfish
Alphabet Art Challenge Day 3 - Caffeine

That is a good idea! I think it came together quite nicely, you did a really good job of layering them all in there! So what is next for you now that this 26 day marathon is over? Does a new challenge of some sort await?

Thank you! Collages are always fun to make because of the endless variations possible. A collage challenge, that might be fun!

As for what's next, I've offered to sponsor a contest for @freshstuff, I have a pinecar derby design I'm working on for @adayat523, and I've been sketching a lot to record ideas from my thought stream.

I just took a peek at your blog. You've been busy, I have some real catching up to do! Steemit waits for no one ☺

Excellent composition of all those created pieces, everything has that same vibe or flow, yet there is such variety in works, really cool! You're Alphabet Art Challenge was a strong one! Thanks for the Shout Out! :)

I appreciate the good energy! Yours is already off to a fantastic start. Enjoy the ride!

Damn I never thought of this... but this is a dope idea. Looks very you hahaha with the choice of overlay and color.. this could make a cool print, like this one for sure

Many thanks, artner. A print! Now that would be wild for sure. In places the background of this collage evokes batik.

and you learn something new everyday haha... had to google batik... but yea i can def see that in your BG... sent you a little mail today :)

Glad to share technique terms.
Oh, sweet! I'll definitely make sure I keep looking out for that certain piece of mail ☺

I just started an art challenge on my feed and I hope you might consider participating. I know you could come up with something pretty endearing.

Thankful to have you on the platform @enternamehere!

Thank you for thinking of me, @artwatch. I forgot to click "post" for this comment!!! D'oh!

Yes, I'll be submitting an entry :D

Nice nice! Awesome - always love your concepts. I can only imagine what this brief will inspire for you.

Nice large grouping of all that hard work. So glad our discussions helped 'jiggle the brain' in that direction. I always enjoy our chats, and if they lead to more creativity, even better. Nice works on the whole 26 day'er, and the final collage. (This may be a dumb ??, I'm not all that compu-savy... I assume you put photos of them together, rather than cut and paste of your actual works?) Have a nice night.

Not a dumb question. I did I half-assed job with the progress pics (I forgot to take screenshots from the start and only have these from midway through), so the method wasn't exactly clear. You are correct in your assumption, I used pictures for the collage. I've still got the originals in a stack here safe and sound. Except the octopus, he's no longer with us. Worry not, more origami is incubating now in my mind. There will be more to come!

Oh good, more octopi and other oragamii to come along. Such a fun art. As close as I've gotten: I have a dollar bill, folded into a ring in H.S. by some now-long-lost-person's-name. A true collectible. Probably worth at least a whole dollar by now.
Glad you didn't chop up your art. That is one of the many advantages of this whole computer world. So many new creative avenues to traipse down. (What happened to Mr. Octopi? If I may be so bold to ask.)

That dollar bill ring is probably worth less today than it was when you were in high school, considering the dollar's drop in value over the past decades! C'est la vie, eh?

Regarding the octopod, he took a trip with the waste removal truck a while back and hasn't been seen since...but he looked happy to go, so I'm not too worried about him.

Digital art certainly has its advantages! Although the wacom is powerful, there's not as much feeling in it as a marker or paintbrush. I feel so thankful to have the ability to explore both traditional and digital techniques in my work. And even more glad that I can share here ☺

this turned out very cool!! so funny how technology these days makes it a lot different from when I was kid.. like gluing pieces together for a collage hehe

Yes! I always loved making good old fashioned glue stick collages in my younger days. Both methods have their appeal, yet technology offers so much more versatility to the collage experience. Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah! Hehe I kind of want to make one, when I get a chance!

This looks like a great challenge and I like your result. And I like that it's done digitally.

Many thanks! This was my first time having a real go at a digital collage. I discovered so many little settings I'll be using again in future work.

Woah! I don't think I've ever seen you do a collage before. It's honestly one of my favorite mediums I've seen you work in.

plz do more of this, it's very cool!

I'm probably biased though since my film editing style is super collage-y

I am flattered, thank you so much. Collage has always been a lot of fun for me.

Do you have any suggestions or requests for the next one? I'd love to incorporate your ideas into it!

Maybe you could try putting some translucent materials into a scanner, like leaves or colored paper? Perhaps it would create a glowing material that could look pretty cool in a collage?

That's a really great idea with the leaves/translucent materials. I hadn't even thought about incorporating scanned images. Thanks for the input, I'm looking forward to the next collage for sure! :D

Wow.. The best

Thank you
