The only real way to live together, without ripping each other's eyes out.

How many lives will be lost to the violence of limited thinking?

The quote is mine. The image source is here.

Anti-__________ and __________ism is -- literally -- killing us.

Everyone's a butcher, it seems, with axes in wild hands:
"Chop, chop! Off with your useless head!"

We all seem to take turns, dicing each other up.
What is the satisfaction in that blood-sport?

I grieve for the recently lost and wounded lives in Pittsburgh.

Wherever our edge may be, there's more. So it's a good idea to stay open...

...for the parts we don't yet know.
It's silly to think we know everything, about anything.

I'm very visual. (Are you, too? If not, what's your dominant sense?)
So I always see things in random patterns.
Like this tile on the livingroom floor:

face-in-floor.jpg

Do you see a face there?

I did.

And I'm no drawer, but tried anyway,
and came out with this one-eyed, peanut-head:

It is my self-authorized permission slip to simply start.

I have always wanted to do more with image. And color. Visual art.
Because just words can't do it all.

I accept that part of me --
and all parts, really.

I knowtice more room and space
has become available to accept others.

And that seems to be a good first step toward not shooting them.

How has art and/or self-acceptance made your life more livable??

During times when so many are reaching for violence to express their frustration with a world out of balance, it is easy to have that flame touch some old embers of such within ourselves too. We have to be that much more committed to anchoring in our angel selves and touching the world with that, to ignite those embers in others.

I would love to reward this post, but will have to wait until tomorrow to do it, since my mana is scraping the bottom the last day. I’m coming for you then though. Great post. Very inspiring.

@indigoocean, your amazing comment makes me feel rewarded! THANK YOU so much. <3

Also, can't tell you how much I love the wisdom in this:

We have to be that much more committed to anchoring in our angel selves and touching the world with that, to ignite those embers in others.

So well said.

I am really glad you're here.

On Steemit, and on Earth, in general.

very nice work @erikaharris - and a good question. I would be dead if it was not for art - art saved my life when I was growing up in an abusive family situation and later it helped me to work through that and now it helps me to pray...thanks for sharing and asking.

Wow, @in2itiveart. I respect your resilience to have lived through abuse. It breaks my heart that some are randomly given such difficult starts in life. But look how you have used art, and how art uses you! Thanks for your inspiration, Brave One.

Thanks! I guess it’s just oKur path - after all this life is not just for fun - we are here for spiritual purpose- so we have to have obstacles- I guess if parents knew that they would provide kids with a purposeful challenge filled life and if we had access to the occulted knowledge of the ages we could really be united in Higher consciousness- but sadly... not- so Eras must provide chaos for us to
Find inner strength to forge our way out of to build character- hopefull

It always frustrates me how people are afraid to draw or paint, as if someone is going to slap their hand or give them a failing grade. It is a free expression that is available to all of us, just like singing or dancing. You don’t have to be the best to just do it. It is part of being human.
Kudos to you for giving yourself permission. 🌺🎨💕

@stillwatersart, I can't believe the amount of MIND-GARBAGE I had/have regarding art!

Most of it revolves around a hard-to-unroot belief that art is an (expensive) indulgence, for which there isn't enough time or money.

Being 'bad' at it, or making messes/ugly errors isn't so bad... it's the wasted resources and materials that freeze me from making a first stroke.

So I tricked my own self, by starting on a crumpled piece of scratch paper! Less pressure :-)

Definitely using non precious materials helps to free up ou up. Also, you would be surprised what kind of masterpiece you can create using kids’ art supplies. Stocking up when they have back to schools sales is an inexpensive way to start. (Do they have those in Beliz?)
