Its been raining hard here in southern california, and no place to go but to stay home and make more painting, for this session i used 16 bowls and i had my first layer of resin dried and i painted random fishes on each bowl, trying all sorts of stuff and pigments, metallics and glow in the dark, its really an easy process, but must be keen with small details, but its really a cool process and i feel more productive when using this medium.

Some of the bowls that i used was bought from Daiso, for $1 - $2 each, then the acrylics i use was bought from Walmart for 50cents each, i use a shimmering medium that i mix with the paint to make it look like scales.

My little fishes don’t look that much at this pint as its the first layer of paint and it usually takes 5 layers to complete, its a long process just because you have ti let the resin dry overnight, but the painting pricess itself is easy.

Luckily this week i had more timw to spare and like my previous post, i have been spending more time here in my One love studio/ Mancave and the kids love staying here as well, i can baby sit and paint at the same time, plus its raining so its an excuse to stay at home and do less work outdoors.

With the resin that i use, i buy it at our local art store Michaels, and i get coupons daily on my email, and when I receive a 50% off then i buy it for 12 bucks, not bad, And i could use it multiple times.

I use different powdered pigments the same one i used for my epoxy flooring, i use the brand Pearlex, a set cost me 10 dollars, and it comes in 10 colors and just a pinch is enough to bring out the colors, and i also had glow in the dark pigments, but i used an acrylic glow in the dark here.

I also tried using it as my medium for painting, still learning, mistakes happen but its mostly happy accidents, its better to what for awhile before adding the pigments as it will mix with the resin and would spread out, it usually take 45 min to start hardening, and i might try to paint on it using pigments around that time.

I also used wood and pebbles for designs, and really looks good as well, i was also thinking of using the same concept for the pebbles on my patio, and maybe, add some fishes here and there for a pond effect, but maybe during summer, as this resin or epoxy works well if the temp is greater than 50 degrees.
