This Tiger painting was inspired by my Mother’s 40 year old stiched art. It still intact in our home, and this brings alot of memories of my childhood.
i find it amazing how art can impact your life, and catches your memories whenever you see a memorable and valuable art
I made my own version of it with a Golden Flower of life symbol. This by itself will be memorable to my kids and would last a lifetime, that what i like about art, because when my time has passed my legacy remains, people might not know who i am, but would somehow feel what i feel when i was making this art, it captured all the positive things and feel good emotions that i felt while making this masterpiece.
here is my moms original art that i remade using oil paint, its just the samesize as what i made, and soon i might have it framed the same as the original
I would like to share with you my process in making this art, you can copy this so you can have it in your home as well.
Here is a step by step process for this painting
- I used a 12 x 24 inch canvas, primed itwith white gesso, then i used my flower of life template and embossed it using a thick gesso, the i also made a rough sketch of my tiger
I always start from the background going forward, i like making my sky very smooth, then with color, i just go by with what i have available as long as i have the basic colors, mixing oil paints are fun, with my pallet i mostly use:
Pthalo Blue
Alizarin Crimson
Indian yellow
yellow ochre
titanium white
ivory black
(basically this are the primary colors with white and black i mostly use it over and over again with my paintings, and i also like experimenting with metallic paints as well)
after my background is done, i started the foreground and made a mini water falls with any light color, i dont use pure titanium white if its not a highlight yet, and also i have to admit even when painting furniture at home, my paint goes beyond the line, so when i paint my art i feel moreconfident painting the surroundings of the subject first
also i try to finish everything thats in the background before i focus on the main subject, as i go by layers when i paint it.
when painting animals or fur, the strokes are really important, and layer by layer, i would start with lighter colors, then going dark with every layer, and on the last final layer i use highlights
pretty much i dont spend too much time on details when im not doing highlights, i try to locate where the light hits and where the dark shades are, and also with this step i used black fro the tiger stripes and suggest allow it to dry overnight when using oil paint, as not to mix it lighter colors which might end up being muddy.
the just blend the colors and make it smooth, and i used a fan brush alot for the furs, and i used thinner to make my lines very fine, short strokes goes a long way
now after usingth dark colors, i am beginning to do more details and highlights and also making the eyes more realistic, and i keep making my shading smooth, and focues more on the face part
now its almost done i just painted the flower of life with a gold acrylic and added a few bamboo trees with its leaves and its done
thank you so much for viewing my art tutorial, hope you found some good tips from my blog. And keep steeming and sharing keep the creativity flowing
I love seeing the step by step process of beautiful artwork. It makes me appreciate the dedication to the craft when the understanding of technique is lost on me. I'm an artist who creates textures with my voice in the form of harmony. Respect and admiration to you. Following and upvoted ❤️

Your Posts are golden.
Yeah. I think writing down might have its advantages as well as disadvantages too.
When writing, you might not really get to pit down everything in the head.
But then in a video or an audio, u can get to say everything that comes to the mind.
But currently, I do more of writing cuz I'm not all that pretty to appear on a video. Lol.
Thanks for sharing
