I wanted to post about the 3D pyramid body butter & lip balm container that I am supposed to print out. Unfortunately the print failed. The first tier failed at the end. This was a 4 hour print for just the lowest tier! So you can imagine how annoying that is. That is why I decided not to continue with the print.

This morning I had an idea to make a stunning 24K golden ring with real diamonds and a large pearl on top. I wish I could have this ring in real life :-D. For a better presentation of the ring, I took a human female hand from grabcad.com

The ring has 117 diamonds in total.

Tutorial

Screen Shot 2017-12-18 at 20.31.33.png

I sketched a circle with a diameter of 17 mm. I am not sure what the diameter is of my own ring-finger, it could be even 16 mm. I just left it like it is with 17 mm. Then I clicked on Create and selected Pipe. Now the ring is solid.

For the top of the ring I offset the plane first by clicking on Construct and selecting Offset plane.

Here I inserted a sphere of 12 mm large. I changed the appearance immediately. The colour for the pearl is Steel -Satin. It has a hint of grey.

I sketched two circles and extruded them. The pearl will come on top of the larger circle. The bars will come in between the two circles. I should probably start first with these two circles and not the pearl first, but this whole idea just came afterwards ;-)

For the bars I needed to sketch three circles first to eventually loft them. I could also just sketch two circles but I wanted the bars to be a bit curved. The second circle I placed it on the plane that I offset already.

With Loft I created one bar, I selected the three circles and clicked on OK. To multiply them, I made a circular pattern. I also smoothened the edges with Fillet.

I moved the pearl almost half inside the circle. I think it looks better this way.

Few weeks ago I made a post of how to make a diamond in Fusion 360. So I simply inserted the diamond into this file and multiply the diamond by making a circular pattern.I did the same for the other side of the ring.

80 diamonds were not enough for me, so I added another 37 diamonds on the side of the ring.

There was something missing, a finishing touch. So I sketched some lines, offset them, extruded the rectangles and multiply by making a circular pattern.

I am happy how it looks like right now.:-)

Hey, I’m looking for a nice ring, nothing too flashy but still stylish. Something I can wear daily without it being too much, maybe silver or something subtle. Any recommendations on where to look?

Wow, that 3D design with the large pearl is stunning! I love how it mixes modern tech with that classic elegance.
