Drawing of a child in the rainsteemCreated with Sketch.

I am Ifeoluwa Ogundiran, a self teaching hperrealism artist from Nigeria. I've not always been about realism, I mostly drew cartoons in the past. January 2017 heralded a new begining and thoughts of drawing actual humans for a change. In fact, this time last year, I was still trying to figure out how to get the right proportions for the human face.

I ventured into realism October 2017 with a not so impressive work I found quite impressive back then. Ever since, I've fallen in love with the concept of hyperrealism itself. Through lots and lots of trial and error, watching videos online and following other artists, I think I'm finally improving.
This work was drawn March of 2018 and I see lots of progress compared to my first attempt. I still doubt myself a lot and I try to stop comparing my works to those of other artists that have been at it far longer than I.

For this drawing, I used Derwent graphite pencils on A3 Winsor and Newton Cartridge Paper. It took two weeks as I had to sleep and eat 😀 and live. For the hair, I used Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen to create wet strands that seem whitish due to the water and also for the water drops. I also used a Tombow mono zero eraser to erase parts for highlighting. I've been told there's no better source of highlighting than the paper itself and I agree.

(P.S: I used my phone to take the pictures and the lighting varies with each shot, which accounts for the degree of brightness and shadow in them. )
