Hello my dear readers!

Yayoi Kusama

Born in Matsumoto, Japan, in 1929. As a child, she felt an affinity for art and it was in the early '40s when after creating some abstract works with paper she knew she would spend the rest of her life generating innovative ideas for art. In the 1950s and early 1960s, she created the work that catapulted her to fame, her Infinity Net series, a large repetitive composition of painting arcs that covered large surfaces giving her a rhythmic character easy to appreciate.

One day I was seeing the pattern of red flowers from a tablecloth on the table, and when I looked up I saw the same pattern covering the ceiling, the windows and finally all over the room, my body and the universe. I felt as if I had begun to self-destruct, to turn in the infinity of time and the absolute of space, while reducing myself to nothing. When I realized that it was really happening and not just in my imagination, I got scared. I knew that I had to flee threatened with being deprived of my life by the spell of the red flowers. I ran up the stairs in desperation. The steps beneath me began to crumble and I fell down the stairs, twisting my ankle.

In 1957 she moved to New York in 1957, where she met Donald Judd, Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, and Joseph Cornell, marking a milestone in his artistic career. Where she was able to continue exploiting his creativity with a series of performances and happenings, he also moved from painting to soft sculpture known as Accumulations. This skill in the American country earned her their respective recognition in the art scene that was then taking place in New York.

In 1973 she returned to Japan and in 1977 she voluntarily decided to stay in a psychiatric clinic where he still lives today. His works are loaded with psychology, and in all these years she has known how to reinvent herself and continue contributing her grain of sand to universal art, the surfaces covered with dots and mirrored spaces have given her international fame and has become a national icon in his native country.

The mole has the shape of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the world and of our life, and it also has the shape of the moon, which is stillness. The moles cannot be alone, as happens with the communicative life of people, two or three or more moles lead to movement. Our earth is only one moon among the millions of stars of the cosmos. Moles are a path to infinity. When we erase nature and our bodies with polka dots, we integrate ourselves into the unity of our environment. We become part of eternity.

The points are solid and infinite. They are a way of life. Sun, moon, stars are hundreds of millions of points. Each human being is also a point. Points cannot exist by themselves, they can only exist when they meet each other. I completely admire their infinity and am deeply moved by the great presence of the universe, which is filled with mysterious power. I feel happy when I do my works when I write poetry and paint pictures. I am also happy when I contemplate the blue sky, observe the open sea, or meet wonderful people. I am grateful for the moment when I feel that I can contribute something to society and can commit myself to it as an artist.

An incredibly dramatic artist. Although I will say that had I ever bumped into her back in the days when I was throwing LSD down my throat, I think I might have freaked out just a wee bit hahahaha!!!
