My entry for Liska Crazy Fox competition
Petja Evlogieva is an amazing artist. I had the pleasure to get tattooed by her tree times. Liska is Petja's alter ego - a crazy fox who mirrors her life.
Recently she invited me to participate in a competition, which challenges people to design their own fox inspired by Liska. The winner will be announced today (28th Feb) and will be decided by the number of likes. If you want to support me, please hit the like button of this post.
The Inspiration
Both me and Petja are big fans of Bulgarian folklore and that is the reason why my fox wears a traditional costume. I used one from her region (Montana) for inspiration. The red-&-white thing she holds is called martenitsa and is something related to our tradition to welcome March. I will write a post about it in the near future, so stay tuned!
The Process
Started off with a quick sketch.
Outlined the basic sketch with ink pen and added some details inside with a pencil.
After all details were added with the pencil I outlined them as well and dropped some shadows.

Next was the coloring which was done with pencils.

Then it was Photoshop time. The background is a photo I took from a walk in Pirin mountain. Some grass was added in the foreground and an outer glow to make her more fairy-tale like. The vividness of the colors was enhanced and she was ready!
The Statement
Pirin mountain is in great danger, as the greedy Bulgarian politicians allowed to have 45% of it used for business, which will lead to deforestation. Hundreds of animal species will loose their home due to this madness. Part of the nation is familiar with the truth and protest are organized often. The other part is led by the lies of the government and as a whole it is a sad story. I want all the foxes in Pirin to celebrate March each year in safety!
