So I returned to the place where I found the giant street art that covered the entire side of a building and I don't know how I managed to miss it the first time I was there, I suppose it was because I was so enthralled by the first large piece that I failed to notice that the other side of the property, which has a security wall on it, was totally covered with art as well. These pieces all appear to have been done with permission and perhaps even by the same people that did the giant one on the other side of the building.
This entire section of Da Nang, which has a low population, seems to have embraced street art while also keeping an eye out for assholes that would put up some garbage without permission. I love that this part of the city is like this and I hope they are able to maintain this level of quality.
It looks as though the home owner is at least somewhat concerned with security because we don't often see buildings with barbed wire around the perimeter of the building. They seem to be at the forefront of the art community in this little village / suburb of danang, and I was able to get up close to confirm if this is spray or not.
When you get up close you can tell that this is definitely spray and you can tell by the variations of density. When I once tried my hand at doing some spray basics, this was the most difficult part for me because if you spray too long, you end up with drips, if you don't spray enough you end up not penetrating the cement enough. I spoke to an expert one time a long while ago and he explained to me that the critical element of the process is often the caps because the ones that come with a normal can of spray paint are normally the worst kind. Thankfully, these caps are purchasable pretty easily and provided you clean them, they can be used almost indefinitely.
I will go and explore the nooks and crannies of this neighborhood in greater detail soon because it is a rather massive area and thus far, I haven't noticed anything that was trash. This is definitely a breath of fresh air, so to speak, because so much of the spray in this town is just vandalism garbage that I hope the perpetrators are punished for.
More coming soon!
