To celebrate Dentist's Day (October 3rd) I made this molar in origami. It is the symbol most used to represent these professionals and was a central part of the photographs I took for that day. So, I explain step by step how to make it.

I used letter paper, the figure parts from a square and it is quite symmetrical. The initial folds establish the crown of the molar, the following steps the roots and are repeated four times. Finally, final form is given and the tooth is armed as such. Initially we fold the opposite points of the square, turn the paper and join the opposite faces. Then releasing the figure is noted as taking a spearhead shape which we will turn into a triangle as seen in the image.

Two marks are made on the slopes of the triangle, one halfway and another quarter. Then, the tip of the opposite side of the triangle is taken to the quarter-placed mark. This is done for each side and on both sides, front and back, of this triangle. The idea is to obtain two additional lines contiguous to the central line that will guide the shape of the molar.

The following steps will form the roots of the molar. Part of a petal fold and then a rabbit ear fold. Take one of the tips of the triangle and bend until you get a rhomboidal shape using the line previously marked as a guide. To this rhombus, the lateral tips are taken and they fold towards the middle and then return them to their place. The petal fold consists of inverting this form into the rhombus as seen in the image. The tip is bent upwards and then the rabbit ear fold begins. This consists of marking from the middle to the outside a fold guided by the lower edges of the rhombus.

Continuing with the rabbit ear fold and having made the folds of the center outward, take the protruding edge with the fingers and fold out of the triangle as seen in the image, this will be the tip of one of the roots of the molar. Then, the lateral tips of the rhombus should be bent inwards guided by the central line marked in the triangle. This completes the steps that must be repeated with each tip for a total of four worked rhombuses that will be the roots of the dental unit.

Finally, additional folds are made to complete the shape of the crown of the molar, take the top tip and fold from the center outward aligned with the outer edge, repeat for both sides of the figure. Underneath it, a finger is introduced and the faces are extended to give 3D shape to the molar, the lower edges of paper are folded inward and upward between the roots. With the anterior fold, highlights a tip that needs to be bent to form one of the corners of the crown. Finally, curved contour is given to the roots using a cylindrical element such as a pencil.

Done! a four roots Molar to commemorate the dentists, if you dare you can try making the figure and share a photo with it and your user written somewhere on the paper. I'll reward the comment.
