Rise of Homo Mechanicus Pt1 (handcut collage series)

behold-the-new-man-of-steel-1.jpg

It was the dawn of the 3rd millennium and the end of the final world war.Earth was now a dead planet and the mighty empires of Man laid in ruins.Only a fraction of mankind survived, scattered around the globe, a shadow of life fading away... Hope came from the man later be known as Terranus who for told the grave danger and set in motion the ultimate plan to rescue mankind.During the war he gathered a group of scientists, technicians, programmers, historians, theologists and under his guidance devised the next step of human evolution.Homo Mechanicus would be the new Man, an anthropomorphic machine capable of hosting human intellect for eternity. Terranus knew that humanity would not accept this solution with much enthusiasm, for most them flesh defined their nature instead of their intellect and way of thinking. They wont give up their flesh so easily and there was no time to learn new values. To support his plan and to guaranty its swift and total success Terranus revived the long dead christian religion, a dogma of pain suffering sacrifice but also rebirth suited his pupose. For the new tech religion man was destined for greater things, free from his weak flesh would walk among the stars to unlock the mysteries of the universe, build everlasting monuments, teach new races and eventually discover Valis, the center of Grand Spiral and birthplace of Everything. Valis was the new god of Terranus religion and himself its prophet and first son. His was the first whose consciousness was uploaded to the iron body and the grand ceremony was transmitted around the globe for all humanity to witness the event of death and rebirth. His new body lifted high carried by two cyber angels and the choir chanted " behold the new man of steel".He spoke and called humanity to fulfill its destiny,to leave behind its flesh and sins of past and rise with him to the stars. After that Terranus quickly dispatched his new Apostles to find what was left of humanity and start the transition. And so the story begins...

Terranus the Saviour of Humanity (handcut collage 70/50cm)

Little is known about who he was, some say artist others a scientist or philosopher, the fact was that Terranus was one of the last bright lights in the long dark night of the Final World War. His plan not only saved mankind but evolved them and gave them a purpose and place in universe. Nowadays in the year 197 ATA ( After Terranus Ascension )
humanity colonised all the planets of the solar system witnessed the death of stars and the beginning of life, created monuments of immense size and beauty, harnessed the power of sun and stars to create unlimited
energy and even achieved first contact with intelligent alien life forms.
Seeing that humanity is finally one the right track Terranus decides that its time to set his last example for mankind to witness. As he was the first to come he will also be the first to leave and close the circle of his new life.
Without ceremonies, followers, hoards of Cyberangels and grand fleets of Anthropomorphic Frigates he set out for his final journey to Valis...

Aurelius.jpg

Aurelius the Grand Inventor (handcut collage 70/50cm)

The technological advancement during the final world war was tremendous but mainly in the field of war.Among others was a cybernetics program to create the perfect soldier,an advanced robotic body controlled from a far distance by a human mind. This was
succeeded by uploading a part of the human conscious inside the machine for a limited time. This program was developed by a brilliant scientist named Aurelius but didn't came in action because in those dark times the life of the human trooper coasted far less thanthe creation of a robotic soldier.

With that knowledge terranus approached aurellius and together found the means to manufacture a number of robotic bodies to experiment with. Their goal was to stabilise the human conscious
the soul as terranus said, inside the machine for unlimited time
And so Aurelius became the father of all Homo Mechanicus and one of the first Apostles of the new Tech Religion. He and his followers chose the Path of Creator and established their base on Uranus.
They were responsible for the creation of many tech-miracles ever since as the Anthropomorphic Ships and the Multi Lens Vision.
