Who is Banksy? - Part 2

in art •  8 years ago

Here I am again writing about this mysterious british artist.
You can read the first part clicking here -> Who is Banksy?

Drum and bass DJ Goldie may have accidentally revealed the identity of graffiti artist Banksy.
Speaking on Scroobius Pip’s weekly Distraction Pieces podcast which aired on Tuesday, Goldie said:

"Give me a bubble letter and put it on a T-shirt and write “Banksy” on it and we’re sorted. We can sell it now. No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over."

After he mentions Robert’s name, Goldie, real name Clifford Joseph Price, pauses for a few seconds before changing the topic to jazz music.

Robert? Who is Robert?
It sounds very likely that is Robert Del Naja – a founding member of the band Massive Attack, with whom he is still active.
Del Naja is also known as 3D in the art world and he is Goldie's friend since very long time as they both lived in Bristol and were both graffiti artists in the same circles in the late 1980s.

Bristol?
Mhhh, it sounds intriguing considering that it is almost sure that Banksy is from Bristol.
Also, you can see below a map that shows how Banksy and the Massive Attack were in the same city at the same time in more than one occasion

Has this put a light on Banksy's identity? Or are they just fooling us?

Shocking good post man really good keep it up

Yeah, when you consider how many places Banksy and Massive Attack have been at the same time, it seems pretty convincing.

Whoever Banksy is, he's dope. He's got some really thought provoking pieces.

Good write up dude!

I just posted some street art that I spotted today (most of it's commissioned). Check it out if like.

I have seen them. Some are very cool!! Following you now :)
