Turning To An Old Favourite - Roses Old Masters Painting

After months and months in the making the big family party weekend is now over and I'm left in a bit of limbo. 😢

John is in bed having worked a night. My son has gone out looking for a car. My mum, who is visiting, has gone to Eastbourne to meet a friend and I'm left wandering around the house feeling a bit lost.

I've got plenty of clearing up to do but am feeling a bit lost after being so caught up in arranging the party weekend.

So for my post today I thought I'd turn to one of my favourite photographs ever.

I won a competition with this one and I still really love it.

This photograph is interesting to me for two reasons.

The first is that the lighting makes it look more like an old masters oil painting than a photograph. (You will probably need to view it full screen to see the effect.) I love it! 😊

The second is that there appears to be two very different types of roses in the shot. However, when I took the photo I was pretty sure it was just the one. So much so that I called over the people who were with me to take a look wondering, "how can two such different roses grow on the same bush"?

Now I'm home, and looking at the photo again I can't believe that this was actually one rose and feel I must have been mistaken. But I do remember we all agreed at the time that this was one bush and therefore very unusual.

OK. So that's my post done. Now it's back to feeling slightly shell shocked and trying to manoeuvre myself back into my "normal" life again.
