I'm really enjoying this Steemit experience for a few different reasons: it's giving me another reason to re-live stained glass pieces I've made years ago, it's giving me the opportunity to admire my progress and it's giving me the chance to share all of this with all of you! I dug through folders upon folders of old pictures and chose, what I feel, is the best depiction of my self-taught journey.
*Year one: the year without a grinder* Each piece of glass was rough and jagged so it was very difficult to get the pieces to fit together the way I'd like.
*Year two* As you can see, the edges are a lot smoother (thank you grinder) and I also began experimenting with larger and smaller shapes/patterns.
*Year three* This was a very meaningful gift to my grandparents who have lived on York Beach, Maine for as long as I can remember. This was the first piece I had made that was based on a real place so it was a challenge to say the least.
*Year four* This piece was inspired by one of my favorite Grateful Dead pictures of their characters dancing in the moonlight.
*Year five* Another Grateful Dead inspired mosaic, this is the largest piece I've ever created (measuring 15x18 inches).
*Year six* I've started to get a lot more adventurous with my background without taking away from the focal point (not an easy task).
*Today* I found this simple wooden "lazy susan" at the thrift store and decided to venture from the usual glass-on-glass technique to a glass-on-wood method.
I hope you enjoyed this small "blast from the past" segment and hope you continue to follow me on this journey! Thank you for reading!
