Today I decided to continue modeling the Dronefly ship for Captain Trickle's - @rhondak - Steem Wars crew. I was asked if I could recreate it in 3D, going from these sketches by Miss Fixit - @catherine813.

This is where I got to last time.

The Dronefly crew seemed happy with the direction so I added some panels to the ship.

Next, I concentrated on adding detail to the engines.

I also tweaked the back end of the ship.

Finally, I separated some sections to add different materials to.

I quickly set up a render in Keyshot.

I then duplicated the ship so it could be seen from both ends, added a starfield backdrop and rendered again.

All modeling was done in The Foundry's Modo 12.0v1.

This is fantastic stuff, @Gmuxx! You are so talented with this. It truly awes and inspires me. :-)

Thank ye.

As always, it's great to see you creating in 3d, but you need to do a timelapse video :)

I like modeling, but lighting and texturing can bore or frustrate me, particularly complex UV maps...

One day I'd like to get back into c4d.

Yeah, I try not to touch uv maps lol.
Will think about time-lapse. Not sure how to do it yet...

wow this is amazing..from a simple drawing you made it look like real.. the last photo looks like it is a CGI like in the star wars movie..

Thank you.

what kind of software are you using when you made this? I am just curious hehe.. it takes a lot of effort to make this kind of 3D image.

Modo for the modeling, Keyshot for rendering.

thanks. I was just fascinated by your work. thinkng if I can do it too hehe

Nice design! It's a bummer I have no space for my 3D printer in the temporary house we're living in right now, otherwise I'd print it out!

Thank you!
