"Attachment" - ink drawing

in art •  7 years ago

Does he love me? Does he love anyone more than me? Does he love me more than I love him? Perhaps all the questions we ask of love, to measure, test, probe, and save it, have the additional effect of cutting it short. Perhaps the reason we are unable to love is that we yearn to be loved, that is, we demand something (love) from our partner instead of delivering ourselves up to him demand-free and asking for nothing but his company.

I love her delicate face and how her "hair" gets tangled all around it! Excellent!
Kundera reminded me of a book I read a few years ago, it's from a greek writer (Alcyone Papadakis):
Do we love a person or is it love we love?
Do we love what they give us or what we expect them to give?
How much do we love their shape and how much their transition we so carefully have been working on?
And what we expect how much can it hold awaiting?
It can hold.
I don't know either, whether it's a blessing or a curse this endurance.
I don't know either, what worths best our soul's peace or this anguish?
(Apologies for my interpretation, I tried my best)

Thanks Ruth! Much appreciated!

absolutely love the fine cross hatch work here. Thanks for posting the closeup detail. I was having a hard time seeing this as a pen and ink work when looking at just the full picture - it seemed like pencil shading until you zoomed in far enough that I could see the cross hatch. As usual with your work this is of course masterfully executed, but also per your usual, it is the concept where it really shines. I love the attachment-roots :) Thanks for sharing! - Carl

Thank you Carl!

My pleasure - I always look forward to seeing your art in my feed! You are very inspirational to me. Thanks again

oh my god .. the best ♥

Thank you @lacanone!

I simply cannot believe how well you replicate the cross-hatched texture in both your paintings AND with ink. The amount of control that you have with ink blows my mind. I love this work so much!

When i saw the thumbnail i thought of Giger and Beksinski. Very beautiful/dark work, and I love the cross-hatch close ups. Following!
