My latest painting - the large variation of "Attachment"

in art •  7 years ago

How do you let go of attachment to things? Don’t even try. It’s impossible. Attachment to things drops away by itself when you no longer seek to find yourself in them. In the meantime, just be aware of your attachment to things. Sometimes you may not know that you are attached to something, which is to say, until you lose it or there is the threat of loss. If you then become upset, anxious, and so on, it means you are attached. If you are aware that you are identified with a thing, the identification is no longer total. "I am the awareness that is aware that there is attachment." That’s the beginning of the transformation of consciousness.

I'm impressed by this abstraction of 'attachment' in your illustration. What I like most about it, is that in contemplating it in the abstract, it illuminates that much more, than would be illuminated by the particular.

This gives the illustration a rich quality. The more I look at it, the more I am enriched. Perhaps, paradoxically, I become attached to it. ;-)

Thank you @seablue!

awesome. the attention to detail, and highly accurate light/shadow position and colors really amazes me.

I also like the concept of "False Enlightenment"- Effective showcase of "The tempestuous and decieving".

Thanks again Leo!

This is incredible! And wise words too. You are really appreciate his insight and literature. This picture is beyond amazing though!

Thanks!

@gric, that's a magnificent painting... and it does go beautifully with the Tolle passage. But I also get the feeling of "connection" and "connectivity" from it... like any one of those strands could also reach out and connect, without it necessarily mean "attachment" in the unhealthy sense.

Then again, maybe I am just reading too much into it. Nice work!

Thank you!

Just re-visiting this one. So nice to look at... If I had a huge budget, I would pay you gobs of money to use that close up shot you provided for the cover of my album.

Thanks again @kidsysco! Any time!

I absolutely love that cut out close up shot. It just speaks to me so well. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite artists, I will probably try to order one of your books this fall.

I would review your work on Steemit like I do so many other artists but, you are here too, doing a fantastic job. So I just tend to chime in on your blog. Which is really rewarding for me. I have never been able to talk with one of my favorite artists like this.

My problem is that I don't have a ton of money nor do I expect any sales for my album. It is not professional work, no label, no contracts, just me and my computer.

So my work is very amateur and I am not sure it is right to apply your super pro work to mine.

Your work belongs on the cover of a real CD for purchase in iTunes.

Your works deserve to make good money and I don't think I can bring any success to you in that regard.

So as much as I want it, I just don't feel worthy.

Keep doing your thing! I will be here to look and watch!

@kidsysco, if you want contact me regarding your album via eMail. As far as I understand it's not really a commercial project hence in such a case I don't charge anything.
