This was the first version of my Town in a Tree series. The wooden surface of the tree was made with a Frottage technique. I used the texture of a plank from the old wooden flooring at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna where I was a student back then. The landscape was inspired by the Rax Mountains in Lower Austria.

Kinda cool .. De Chirico often used this motif where he put architecture inside figures, or landscapes inside rooms, to be more metaphysical, often suggesting ancient Roman ruins

Man. I love the figures of bodies insinuated in the tree and also the detail of the face. Does it have a color palette a little different from the one you handle? Is it something like an arid environment on a clear day?
