He grew up fighting all the way
Surrounded by so many others
Not isolated from the realities
No safe spaces
No trigger warnings
He just scrapped his way to the top
Vying for the same resources
Yet creating new ecosystems along the way
Not isolated from struggle
Like some of his neighbors
Who look so symmetrical
But lack that certain character
The scars of battles won and lost
Twists and turns reaching up for the canopy
Fires and floods
History worn on bark
So I say to him
Keep on keeping on
My wooden friend
