در پنجمین روز از جشنواره فیلم کن در جنوب فرانسه، گلشیفته فراهانی، ستاره ایرانی فیلم "دختران آفتاب" روی فرش قرمز رفت و جای خالی جعفر پناهی در اولین نمایش فیلمش، "سه‌رخ"، بیش از هر چیز دیگری رخ نمود.
گلشیفته فراهانی در دختران آفتاب نقش فرمانده گروهی از زنان ایزدی را بازی می‌کند که به دنبال انتقام از نیروهای داعش هستند. فیلم را ایو هوسون کارگردانی کرده و آن طور که ازعکس‌های فرش قرمز آشکار بود، زنان نقش محوری در ساخت و پرداخت فیلم داشته‌اند.
