Prayer Painting for Hannah, a Christian...(Part 4) - Steemians Help me pick the Substrate?steemCreated with Sketch.

I like the idea that my paintings have a set intention. If they are going to be hanging in someone's house, something that gives their Soul a Pause, many times a day, I want there to be a clear intention from me the artist behind the creation of the work.

Original Art has great power -

the intention of the artist - the Spirit of the Artist - is solidified in the artwork - therefore I want MY spirit to be aligned with God's Will when I make a painting for someone.

Herein lies why I like the practice of "Sigil-making" and embedding that inside a painting intentionally. Here, I am simply taking letters in the English alphabet and reconstituting them into a symbol that I can use in the painting as an image.

In this case, my friend Hannah who is a Christian, has given me these prayers and asked me to make a Sigil Painting for her. These symbols will speak to Hannah's Unconscious Mind which is the mind connected to her Higher Self and to the Creator. She already has been touched in her heart by these prayers because she has asked me to make the painting...she wants them to have a deep and lasting impact in here life.

I have known her for about 10 years. She gives a great deal of her time to Spiritual Assistance to those less fortunate than herself which is why I feel honored to make this painting for her. Her son is currently in prison while her daughter is blossoming into a fine human being. I am sure that this dichotomy brings great inner turmoil to Hannah and her husband, and it may be for him that she refers in the prayer regarding the most demanding people needing her patience and tolerance.

Here are the prayers broken down in preparation for the painting. (They are written in full at the bottom of this post)

Here are the sigils I made for each phrase - in order of the prayers (You can see the details of how these came to be in the links to the previous 3 posts on this painting)

Here is the sketch that I made for the painting - Hannah wanted a Mermaid painting - mermaids symbolize people who can walk on dry land but also swim to the depths of emotion and have empathy for others...when one suffers all suffer

She liked the one I made for myself recently ...

this one that I made for myself has a sigil which says "God fits me to be of maximum service to Him and others" and it was made for me to find a way to make a living which is in alignment with my principles...

Right now, I am deciding which substrate to use for the painting.

  1. I am deciding between this drawer...which is cool but I think it might be too small for the drawing to have full expansive breathing room

  2. this larger flat piece of wood... which I also like - and would enable me to add more to the top of the painting like maybe, the Sky which symbolizes the Holy Spirit and the Son which would symbolize God...

  3. this in-between size piece of wood

  4. and this very old but very nicely grained piece of wood which has natural wave shapes in it from the weathered grain

What do you think?

All substrates are found wood - I walk through the Denver alleys regularly and pick up things that are being thrown-out - and I especially think of this as Redemption - because nothing in God's world can't be remade into something new and transformed through His Grace...

The Original Prayers

"God of the Silence: Calm and quiet my soul at the fount of your loving presence. In your silence, replenish me with a force for love, especially for those who are the most demanding. When there is nowhere else to go, inspire me to drop into my heart and find your life-giving grace there, weaving the fabric of human reality into a tapestry of love. Amen"

"Oh God, grant me an undivided heart to love and serve you today with all my heart, mind, strength and soul. Open my eyes to see you and serve you in the ordinary events of this day. May Love radiate through me. Amen."
