I recently resigned from my stifling corporate job after 6 years. The experience inspired me to illustrate something that perfectly captured the type of culture and environment I was subjected to.

I like that. A lot.

Kudos to you for leaving the rat race. So many people spend forty plus years in the corporate cage.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. Ironically, I worked in the creative department of said corporation, but they were so restrictive when it came to forward-thinking ideas. As an artist, I like to advance my skills and grow as a designer, but this company was so behind the times, they they prefer to keep dead trends on life support instead of having the finger on the pulse of newer ones.

Hmm. Corporations only really appreciate creativity when it comes to accountancy and paying tax. Maybe that's a little too black and white, but they seem unlikely to take the kind of risks that any self-respecting artist will want to take.

What's the plan, post corporation life? There are a lot of hungry artists, as I am sure you are all too aware...

So true. 90% of my ideas were always rejected. When you deal with that type of restriction, you feel trapped and unwanted. My plan these days, is to just find a company that will nurture my creativity and conducive to my interests.

Are you not tempted to go it alone?

Ive thought about it, but at the same time, I need some type of stability.

And there's the rub. Bills to pay!
