Siempre me han parecido fascinantes las Jirafas, tan esbeltas y elegantes.

Es una pena que se encuentren en peligro de extinción. La mayoría se encuentran en reservas naturales (donde se preservan junto a otros animales), pero la atención en ellas ha quedado en un segundo plano, es más común que leamos o escuchemos sobre preservar la vida y hábitat de otros animales como los rinocerontes y elefantes.

¿Cómo es esto posible?

En un artículo de Patrick Healy (2016) en el New York Times explica:

...el inusual tamaño de estos animales y su semblante suntuoso los ha vuelto el principal objetivo de los cazadores furtivos en África, quienes arrojan trampas de alambre de acero desde el follaje de los árboles o los acechan y les disparan con rifles, aseguran los expertos en vida silvestre." ¿Cómo se puede solucionar este problema?

Primero, concientizar a la población de la importancia que tienen TODAS LAS ESPECIES en el ecosistema. Segundo, poner mayor atención a la seguridad y bienestar de los animales. Por último, incrementar las áreas de Reservas Naturales y detener a los cazadores furtivos.
