in art •  4 years ago

Here's my first three trials

I designed my own

  • Sword
  • Bow and arrows
  • helmet
  • axe
  • turtle shell
  • manta ray spear

Process

For a very short explanation, this is just a matter of applying geometrical shapes, lines and some metallic gradiations.
Feel free to explore and see what you can do.

Here they are:

Shield and spear for the "Gallant Galapagos" this was an art request by a friend. I was running out of ideas but luckily someone suggested this so I am able to add this to my collection.

It's quite tricky to choose the right background for this but I tried other darker variations that make the colors pop. Sometimes some colors either water down or enhance the warm colors so be very careful and just compare results when choosing your palette.

Dark color variation
so dark colors will definitely make the colors pop and seem more 3D
I would normally skip black because it can either be too dark itll drown out the shadows and make the forms less visible. I stick with dark purple, green, maroon or blue.

For the preview of my other weapons I have chosen the gold and green combo to make it more royal and medieval.

Rose and Sunflower inspired Axe and Helmet

Roses and sunflowers have been my joy in the garden so I kind of tried to apply their beauty and elegance to the weapons, I hope it works.

The helmet is two toned, it has rose and sunflower embossed or something, it also started out as some sort of owl like figure for the front but then I added some thorn like spikes to it for the rose.
I am pretty happy with how this ended.

Theres literally a lot to consider about weapons
I have no idea but I just looked at some references and thought
what material could these be? is it light weight? is it durable?
is the weapon easy to grip (when determining dimensions)

But whether I made a mistake with a few details, at least I was able to create some designs which may be useful in the future. I mainly started this because I am also fond of weaponry. I made it kind of Lord of the RIngsy, the details, two toned gold and silver and all that, it is just fun and interesting.

God any ideas?
