Here’s another recent Jules Joseph Lefebvre master copy drawing I finished :)
Greetings fellow Steemians!
In today’s post I thought I would share this Lefebvre master copy block in drawing I finished the other day.
As of lately when I have been finding myself in between paintings or sorting through some work in which needs to be varnished, I am reminded in how I seem to never be able to get enough drawing in.
When a painter is absorbed in their work, I hear it to be of an all too common of a problem in that it can become easy in dropping the ball with one of the most fundamental practices of art making, which is drawing of course.
So about a week ago I invested in some more drawing materials and I have to say that I am so glad I did!
For the longest time I admit that I have been so turned off by the use of mechanical or drafting pencils for drawing, for the most part simply due to their weight and their hindrance to line sensitivity, but I decided to reconsider them.
I just love this lead holder!!
Especially when you’re out and about drawing in a sketchbook it works great!
It’s easy to keep sharp, there’s no messy graphite dust from the sanding block to deal with, and you don’t have to carry around handfuls of various grades of pencils...it’s pretty awesome :)
So naturally when my drawing supplies arrived I just had to try them out on this master copy drawing.
Not only am I pleased with how it turned out, but mostly in the experience in how efficiently it unfolded. It was a pretty nice feeling in not having to constantly reach for the razor blade and sandpaper.
Of course in the beginning I still used a more of a blunt old fashioned wood pencil for the gesture and massing in of large shapes, but then I found I could dive right in with breaking down all of the forms with the drafting pencil.
Please feel free to let me know what you think?
Thanks for reading Everyone!
