Happy New Years and Resolutions! Last alien art of 2017

Project 123-01-01.jpeg

It's that time of year again where we all get to reflect on the past and metaphorically turn a new page and start fresh. I've never been much of a person to make resolutions for New Years, I think it's kind of silly because you can decide to be better or make better decisions literally any day of the year.

Despite that with everyone talking about it I can't help but think about what I'd like to change and improve as well. All the cliché resolutions like eating better and exercising more are great goals but the one that sticks out in my mind is improving my art.

I've seen my progress growing in leaps and bounds and I feel like I am exploring different modes of expression and learning new techniques daily but when I complete a piece I always have that nagging feeling, could it have been better?

I'm sure this is a plague for every artist, and it's entirely possible that no matter how many techniques I work on I'll always be seeking to improve. Being aware of the need to work on aspects of oneself is the first step to change after all! I do however think that having these nagging thoughts can hinder my art.

Art is meant to be free and fun, at least the kind of art I want to do is. So I think my resolution for this year will be less negative critique. I think we should all be a little easier on ourselves and not stress the small stuff, and the rest will follow. Taking the pressure off can only lead to good things in the long run.

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Years and a stress free and abundant 2018, and success in all your personal resolutions as well!

Wow great art man it's awesome....

I wish you happy new year in advance, just some minutes to2018

Thank you so much same to you, still 4 more hours for me!

You too, the happiest of New Year and may it be filled with much creativity and freedom of expression. I want to thank you again, as your curating really helps me connect with other artists, I hope you keep that going in the new year as well!

I will definitely keep it going, a creative 2018 to you as well!

Hi there @juliakponsford i definetly think your work of art is unique, I haven't seen anything like it before. I'm really happy for you and your resolution for next year, I am guilty of pressuring myself and thinking "oh I should have done this and that" whenever I post or submit my art or work at uni, so I'd love to grow to accept more than critique badly whatever I do.
I hope you have a GREAT 2018! Best wishes for you and your family! :)

Yes so many of us are plagued with doubts, not an easy thing to let go but we can try, happy new year!

Whoa, very cool and bizarre. As far as technique goes, I think there's a point where once you accumulate enough, they click together and all simultaneously become easier through synthesis. Improvement is exponential, not linear. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Happy new year!

Thank you, it's true for sure, sometimes I feel stagnant for a while and then it seems like I make a sudden jump? Where things feel easier than before. Happy new years to you as well I can't wait to hear more of your compositions!

This happens to me too. I will struggle a while with art, and then all of a sudden it feels like there is a direct channel between my brain and fingers and the drawing just pours out and feels effortless.

Happy New year to you! Still have a few hours to go around here... haven't really made any plans and projections for 2018 yet; that'll be for tomorrow... but "making more time for art" will definitely be on the list.

More time for art is always an excellent resolution, happy new year!

Happy New Year, Julia!

Happy new year!

Thanks to you as well!

Happy New Year! I like experimenting with different types of art too. Whenever I learn something new, I try to find ways to use it in different combinations with other techniques. Like sketching on photos, or printing digital art on watercolor paintings :-) Love the alien! 👽

To you as well! The exploration and novelty of new techniques is definitely one of the funnest parts of being an artist. I wish you much creativity!

This turned out to be an awesome art work! Love your choice of colors:) Happy New Year!

Yeah I like the end result, it was looking a little drab, needed some colour :)

She is beautiful! <3
This makes me think of a peaceful race of nature based aliens...and perhaps her mind is attuned to some frequency that plays lovely music made from the sound of rainbow crystals.
