Other World

Its 6AM my alarm clock sounds, I turn over to shut it off. I get up and go brush my teeth. My toothbrush falls into the toilet, Great.

I finish getting ready and head out. I’m halfway to work and I hear the unmistakable sound of a flat tire, Fantastic.

Finally it’s time for lunch! I place an order at our cafeteria. When I go to pay I find that I lost $20, Outstanding.

It’s 5PM, time to go home. The moment I’m through the door I drop everything on the ground. I head straight to the couch and lay down closing my eyes.

Cool clouds are spreading out before me. I instinctively know that I will be able to walk on them. As I step out music begins to play. Intently I start to dance. Although I have never taken a single lesson here I am a natural. As I drift along the surface I notice my surroundings are a bit peculiar. The trees look full grown but are only waist high. They are filled with unnatural colors. I look down and notice the clouds appear as if they are reaching for me. The warm feeling begins to fade.

Faintly hear my name being called. It sounds far away.
K e l s e y.
K e l s e y. I walk towards the sound and it gets louder
K e l s e y. Curiosity is getting the best of me. I haven’t seen anyone on my journey and
K e l s e y. can’t fathom who I would run into here.
Kelsey. It sounds so close they have to be around here somewhere.

I am so wrapped up in finding out who has been calling my name I hadn’t realized that the music stopped. An eerie silence creeps in. I look around and notice that the colors now appear dull. In fact everything seems to be fading. The clouds soften and I start to sink.

“Kelsey! I’ve been trying to wake you up. Are you ready to go?”
Well I hope tonight is better than this morning…
