Jack O' Lantern Painting

by. @kiddarko

This is a digital painting I am currently working on. I started in grayscale to get the values correct and am working from there. This is a new experience for me, I feel it is gong really well & I am having a lot of fin with digital art.

Here i added some color to get a feel for the values in color in the environment & it seemed much too light overall so I went back to grayscale and began to darken the values.

Here you can see I sharpened the edges and smoothed out the blends while also adding texture and some leaves on the stem.

I'm pretty happy with the overall values not. I will go in and render the rest of the details while also adding the background placing this Jak O' Lantern in an actual scene/environment.

delicious art and very awsome drawing 💖

Thanks :D

Excellent Bro ! HEY ! I'm BACK on the net and steemit ! So glad to see you working it ! Observation ? Question ? how the hell do you do that ?, lol lmao ... i mean ..I MEAN !! how can you 'Weight" the lines and shadow etc, even colors without the source of light being IN the pic " like WTH ?, lolo
My point ... if i were drawing that, which I CAN'T, lol, i would HAVE to start with the source of light, as a starting point for my "Scene". How you do all that in reverse is just fking amazing man !

Keep Rockin IT !!! "A man of many talents" INDEED ! /salute

thanks buddy, the idea is to understand how objects behave in a light environment. The artist creates the light source and how bright it is by the values they choose to use in the image itself. That's why it is really helpful to do your drawings in grayscale first. also pay attention to the background tone because that solidifies how light or dark the object is. Many important factors & I am still learning everyday :)

hey man, I'll take your word for it, LMAo I can barely draw water from the faucet !, lol, keep up the good work man !
Looks like you got a good grip on it ! Really looking forward to seeing more of your art, on paper, w/e or tats !
sorry just a penny at a time ! /cheer /salute

Ah, that's too bad. Hopefully things will turn around!

It would indeed be a fun time :)

this is really nice from you i like it

Thank you very much :D

nice post

Thanks

wow I really love the colours as they turned out. I respect digital painting and have said to some that it can take as long and be as much work as painting with a brush. I think overall a very cool jack-o-lantern.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback
