Difficult-to-display line drawings

in art •  6 years ago

I'm having the darnedest time uploading some of my latest drawings at sufficient resolution for them to be viewed properly... due to the nature of the compositions I am getting a lot of moire effect (which is sometimes sorta cool, but still truly unwanted) when Facebook, Instagram, and other such sites automatically re-size and process the images for posting.

I thought I'd try to post a collection of them here since I have more control over images' presentation on this platform.

Barn Ramp Construct (2019), digital art by Kevin McLaughlin

This one is contemporary and abstract, combining space-age-retro and country elements (the barn shape, the spiral floral crest in lieu of a weathervane). I've been placing some of these recent drawings on a background meant to evoke aged, yellowed paper, as if these are old architectural drawings found in a drawer after years.

This object is at once a holographic map, a Jetson's jukebox, and/or a 3D printer that is also a transporter, some sort of console that you approach and manipulate (somehow). It's a blend of familiar and unfamiliar that lives on the border of possible and impossible, which is what I like about it.

In this piece, a series of oblique polygons (octagon, heptagon, hexagon, pentagon, and square) defines the external shape as a spiral ascends the interior space of the mountain to its flat crest. Technically ADA compliant, but still not a ramp for the faint of heart (I'd want a good motorized wheelchair to make it up this Guggenheim-style spiral, but then I'm kinda old and out of shape).

Thanks for taking a moment to look at these difficult-to-display works... I'd love to hear your reactions!

These are super lovely, @kismetart :) I think I would love such artworks printed on a proper scale to be displayed on a wall ... Each seems to have a very distinctive and eloquent expression of space and movements in terms of shapes and lines. I really like them, they pull my mind into a center of a zen state :)

Gorgeous works <3

Thanks so much, @veryspider!! Again, you made my day!
