I simply love watercolour. From the techniques, the effects, the possibilities of the outcome always amazed me. Some time last year i had a full month of watercolour and acrylic exploration, trying to challenge myself with difficult subjects to paint. One of the experiment i did was to depict the nature of water; through the flow, the splash, the details and transparency. so i took this photo as a reference;
I started it with a rough pencil sketch guide to compose the drawing. not too detail as i would like to explore it while using the watercolour instead doing every single details. This way, i've got to explore the anatomy, the expression through colours and forms with the watercolour, not to constraint myself to the photo.
I masked the border as usual to get the framing as i always love the contrast of the crips edges with the free flow of watercolour effect. So i apply the base colour, trying as clever i can be to avoid white spaces to the paper colour.
Layers after layers of the colour i have no choice but to apply a lil bit of white acrylic as the finishes because i need more highlights and details.
Started with a lighter colours and i finish it with the darker parts such shadow and background to create more depth.
Finally the best part, i remove the masking tapes and voila!
This painting took me 1 hour to complete it but it was totally worth it when i posted this painting on my social media, someone asked if she can buy the painting from me. Unfortunately the drawing was done in my favourite sketchbook. So i arranged a high quality prints on a watercolour paper and frame it nicely instead. :)
Was it taken?
How if anyone interested to buy?
