The creative process

in art •  7 years ago

Much can be said and written about the creative process, but here I will simply share a few shots from the creation of my last painting. Was a very fun, playful and creative process with lots of room to discover new aspects in every part of the process.

The initial drawing I made and used as a relatively loose reference for the painting

Transferred to a gesso board. Notice there's a lunar companion to this piece, which I will unveil later once it's done

Developing shadows and outline using ink

First glaze and working back in to the whites

Another glaze and back into whites

Local glazes and slowly transitioning into more direct opaque painting. All these transitions happened very organically.

And here's the final result.

That's a rough draft of the process, I could go into lots of detail about each step and what I went through mentally as it went along, but for now I'll keep it brief and visual.
