Moonbathing

Is there meaning in life without Steemit? Do you feel discontent if you haven't posted for a while?

I wouldn't say my life comes to an end, but I certainly get itchy to post something. The lead up to the exhibition and then various associated activities has kept me away for a while. Then on top of that, I had to start a new artwork so I have something to show you. =)

Well, that's my excuse anyway. What's yours?

I had an extremely late night, last night, finishing this one off. The palette was already loaded with the right mixes of colour, and I simply could not leave it until morning to start again as I would have to mix the colours again. Although sleep deprivation was making me feel like a an owl in broad daylight, by the time I finished, I was pleased with the results.

I love it! The colors are just perfect and The position of the body is great. Congratulations! The non-sleep night was totally worth it.

Thank you Catherine! I guess I had to work with the spirit of the painting, night painting for a night painting. ;-)
Sometimes all else has to be put on hold when the creative itch strikes... even sleep.

yeah that is totally true, you are so involved in the activity that you forget about everything else. It is a great feeling, but I still think it is good to find some balance otherwise we can loose track of other things that are also important :)

I tend to loose myself in things I am involved with, but I always resurface at some point. Yes, balance is important.

Nice blending. Just wondering what paint have you used? I'm also an artist. And i would love to know some advices what could make my piece last longer without chipping off or cracking.

Hi @mkimberry! I paint in oils.
What paints are you working with? Do you already have problems with your paintings chipping or cracking?

Was is hard to manipulate? I never used oil before because its quite expensive here in our place so i stick to acrylic.

Oils are not hard to manipulate, in fact, you can do far more with oils than with acrylics. If you work like I do, you only need a few basic colours, as all the great master painters did. You could use as few as five: white, black, red, yellow and blue.

Here's a video that explain very well what I mean.

Ooh. I see. Actually what ever i earn here in steemit. I would invest it on my paintings. Being an artist in my place is becoming a trend. And im having a hard time keeping up with them due to lack of finances. Anyway. Thanks for the advice. 👍💪

A stunning picture. Where do you get inspiration from? Do you use models?

Thank you Xana! =)
I source photos and work out compositions digitally. Sometimes I use models.
My inspiration comes from all sorts of sources. I'm looking for things that have drama, tell stories and convey moods and emotions. I want people to feel the paintings as well as think about them. I'm interested in history, mythology, psychology, various figurative art movements throughout time. I seek to express the mystery of human experience. There is much we take for granted, but more that we have no answers for.

Relishable! The use of a colder palette on the skin seems to suggest something that is a bit out of time- but at the same time somehow at odds with pre-modern conceptions of form and character. This painting seems to have little to do with the Greeks or the Romans but still captures that Dionysian or perhaps Kykeonian spirit. There's some eternal magic that you've committed to canvas without making an overbearing appeal to the Renaissance. It's as though the image is taken from a world where the European Dark Ages didn't occur. The fact that it is entilted, "Moonbathing" only adds to this appeal. Great work!

Thank you @kaimarmalade! Yes there is echo of a more classical time. Moonlight is special.

Gorgeous! I love that warm secondary lighting that breathes life into the figure against the cold moon light. The choice to use dark for the horizon looks like mountains which somehow makes the figure appear protected even though she is exposed.

I can see though also the possibility of making her even more exposed if the horizon was to be gradually lighter and lighter, making the grass field vast and the woman seem more vulnerable...

Yet another stunning and interesting work from you sir.

Thank you @ankapolo for your thoughtful response! I had originally planned to add some bare looking trees or bushes silhouetted just behind the grass, but ending up liking the simplicity of the composition without. However, I'm intending to make a series out of this and may add silhouettes in the later works. I'm rather excited to explore this theme.

yes, i'm inspired too! i'm working on some werewolf concepts and this painting is also giving me ideas for my own work when it comes to night scenes.

wow amazing

Wow... I just upvoted, followed and checked out your profile. Looks great, nice art you got. I get itchy to post too, i think it applies to all steemers.

Thank you very much @jaff8! =)
Some of us must have extremely itchy fingers. I really do wonder in amazement at some of the regulars on Steemit who post regularly like clockwork every day, if not multiple times a day. The thing is, I need to make time for painting, otherwise I have no artwork to post. Catch 22. ;-)

This is sooo gorgeous!

Thank you Coco! =)

very nice, good perspective and anatomy.

Thank you @supernalbeing! =)

Hehe. I am still newbie here but i also have this feeling. Checking steemit every few minutes :) i love your painting. Great pose and colors selection. Well done!

Cheers Mitch! =)
Steemit - stick with it for the long run, even when it seems to go slow. I find it far more rewarding than any other social network these days.

Wow, awesome direction of thought. I like people who can think outside of trivial categories

Thank you @anforo! =) Glad you enjoyed it.

I really like the title of the painting. Feel like it perfectly captures this beautiful painting.

Thank you @gniksivart! I quite like soaking up moonbeams myself. =)

perfect form) in moonlight it seems so mysterious
i feel like i have lost smth withour posting you're right)

I have always love the mystery of night. It is just so magical. I have always wanted to try to capture the mood of it. There will be many more artworks expressing this theme to come. =)

I like the Steemit community, it keeps me coming back for more. So many interesting people with interesting stories.

You are very much true that we have been adicted to steemit, if i don't post daily it feels me that something is missing in my life.

When the DDoS attack happened the other week and Steemit.com was not available, I was wondering what I was going to do. But then I remembered Busy.org. The day was saved! Yay for decentralised platforms. =)

Well painted - really cool - like the Motif and the colors :-)

I'm amazed with this painting it's real that "a picture can paint a thousand words."

Thank you Nini! =) I try to express more than words so it keeps you coming back to the artwork to discover more. A never ending story.

amazing art , you are good, keep it up, do you do exhibition for your work?

Thank you @joendegz! =)
I recently had an exhibition.

Lovely piece of art @leoplaw!! You know, I was looking at it and suddenly words started spinning in my head, words that formed the lines of a poem for that woman. Thank you!

Thank you Ruth!
Feel free to post your poem here. =)

The moonlight so cold was trying to cover her body...caressing her every little detail, her every skin cell, the tiny freckles, the little moles, the thousands of hairs that decorated her from top to toe.
There she was, lying free, carefree, carefree and simple, as simple as we all are deep down, beneath those clothes that carry a significance for others, for society, too heavy for us to bear.
Right there under the moonlight she was nothing but herself, nothing but her naked soul and nothing but her will for life.
She hated those clothes, she hated them for giving her a status, a purpose in life, a pile of expectations others had for her.
Right there under the moonlight she was just another soul, just another beating heart, another woman thirsty for love, passion, devotion.
Right there under the moonlight she was waiting.
Right there under the moonlight she was ready to surrender.

Apologies for my "poetry", I don't usually write in english, I prefer my mother tongue for poems.

Wonderful! Thank you for your poem Ruth.
What is your mother tongue?

Thank you!
It's Greek :)

I love the blue hue of her skin! Beautiful painting! I can relate about wanting to post something but being busy with art. Either I’m posting so much that I neglect my art, or I’m making so much art that I don’t have time to post.

Thank you @stillwaresart! Good to know I'm not the only creative person on Steemit with that problem. Lately I have been opting for giving more priority to my art... otherwise, I'm more of a blogger than artist. I know which one I am. ;-)

Upvoted & RESTEEMED :]

Thanking you most kindly @ipkiss! =)

I'm leaving you an upvote and a comment.
I have been here on Steemit only for a week but to some extent I really can rely on what you are saying. Does have a platform here it's kind of addictive and I'm spending way too much time here than I should 🙊
On one hand I would like to make some kind of post a couple of times a day, there are so many things I'd like to post about.
But then I ask myself who will actually see them. So it might be better to keep them for some later stage, who knows I might be able to get to a number of follower who will actually have a look at my post. Not sure if I will ever reach that point.
However I do understand your feeling of the itch to post something. Just of the joy of sharing ideas and thoughts.
But my other life keeps me busy and occupated as well, and that's a good thing.

And keep up doing your nice artwork, as long as you don't feel you are constraining yourself

Thank you @maxinpower! =)
I would agree, don't post everything at once. Build up your audience. Following, commenting, voting and sharing on other people's posts also helps build a community. As people get to know you, they will interact more with your posts. Be patient and give it time. You'll get there. Just keep going.

Thank you. Really hope so.
And same to you

A stunning piece. A real showstopper for sure!

Thank you very much @angel35mm! =)
I'm going to frame it up nicely in the next couple of days.

Excellent piece Leo! Very convincing how you captured the atmosphere and that light! I'm in awe 😵

Thank you Reinhard! The original looks even better. The camera seems to have issues with the darker tones.

I'm thinking of exploring this theme as a series. I have some ideas, oh I have some ideas. ;-)

Beautiful painting! Looks so realistic. Your sleepless night paid off! Thanks for sharing.

whoaa this super cool. You need to be recouped immensely. lol.

omg, awesome artwork!! I hope one day I'll be as good as you

Gorgeous!
