I had the great pleasure of attending Yayoi Kusamas "Infinity Mirror" exhibition at the AGO a couple days ago.
It was one of the may popular shows the gallery has every put on, and I think It's because it was such an immersive experience.
This is her when she was a child
She spent the 60s doing performance art in NYC, and became fascinated by patterns and repeated shapes.
Very phallic!
She ended up moving back to Japan, and has been living in a mental institution for the past 20-30yrs. She leaves everyday to work in her studio.
We waited 15-20 min I'm each line to experience 30 seconds in each room
Some of the rooms I chose not to use my camera as I just wanted to experience the effects fully.
It felt like being transported into a fantasy world.
I love her paintings and sculptures too!
If you get the chance to check out this exhibit, I highly recommend it. The last available time to get tickets in Toronto is March 27 at 10am online.
Immersed in a world of dots!
I love the pink photo, Really dreaming
