Making-of of our next clip | LISA & RHAVI | Experimental rain on bodypainting

Hey guys!

Today I will present you a piece of our last work. This week-end we filmed some scenes to build our next video clip!

Design.png

It's a Lisa & Rhavi's project with the collaboration and under the direction of David Deflores, a chilean artist.

The Song

"Je suis" is a song written in French, Spanish and Portuguese. It's also the fruit of the collaboration between David Deflores, Khaty and Lisa & Rhavi. A crasy meeting between Chile, Brazil and France.

We met in Santiago de Chile in 2015 when we were traveling.
It was immediately a musical love at first sight, and the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

One night we were at the Khaty's house drinking some wine and playing guitare when David said: "Do write a song together? Let's do it!"

This song speaks about this moment and more generally about LIFE.

"Je Suis" in french, "I am".
I exist, I have fellings, I'm like the days and the nights wich will always exist.
I'm a part of this everything that we can't really define.
And I have my heart and Art to express myself!

The clip

At this time we gave a first try of a clip with a canadian photographer, Khaty's friend.
We finally decided to not publish the clip because it was not so faithful to our first idea.

So we gave up to the idea of launching a clip so soon...

And now, after two years David contacted us with a new idea:

Making a new video clip for "Je suis", by bringing together filmed images of him in Chile and us here in Brazil.

At the same time, David is re-mixing the song in the studio.
We loved this idea and decided to take up the challenge!

To do it, we called our photographer friend and art student @barbaralissa.

When Barbara listened to the song she imagined some colour's effects with preponderant magenta and purple.

We were thinking of filming it in the top of the montain closed to our house.
The view there is very impressive!

But when we woke up on Saturday morning it was raining some fucking tons of water!! (Brazilian rains)

After the first minutes of disappointment, Barbara had a great idea: using the rain with painting to create smooth color effects!

She painted some lyrics of the song on our body. And also some trib colored drawings.

During that time the rain stoped...

We started by filming some scenes by singing with the soundtrack until the rain returns.

We explored the music and our painted bodies moving while dancing. But the rain still did not come back...

Everything was ready! The clouds encircled us, we could hear the storm rumbling in the distance but not a drop of rain. Just kidding us!!

So we decided to use an other strategy by making some rain. We took an automatic sprinkler and fix it above us!

Ok it's cheating but the effect is really close to a good tropical rain!

Everyone was a little bit nervous because we knew that we were entitled to only one catch for this scene.

And the water was very cold!! It was necessary to make a mad effort not to feel strained.

After this scene we took more paint with @rhavi to spread it on our body while dancing.

Barbara guided us in the movements to explore while filming.

It was a magic moment.
Very cold but totally spontaneous and creative.
It was beautiful to see these colors blend as the water ran over our skins.

We were using her Fuji xe2 camera.

It was difficult to stabilize the camera during the filming but the quality of the image is pretty good.

It may be possible to install a stabilizer during post-production as well as some slow-motion systems.

Once the filming ended, we ran to the hot shower!

I'm happy to have had this artistic experience and I'm impatient to see the final result of all the images assembled (ours and those of David Deflores).

Thank you a lot @barbaralissa to have given your time and energy for this shooting! <3
