My favorite pants recently wore out completely. So I decided to replicate their pattern and reproduce these pants in leather. To start with, I made a pattern from craft paper, and chose a 3oz white cowhide to trace this pattern on to.
A bit of rubber cement comes in handy to get the waistband to hold its shape.
To hold the leg panels together and get everything fit up right, I tie a bunch of little knots along the seams. As you can see, the black waxed nylon thread heavily contrasts the white leather.
With everything all ready to go, the next step is many hours of stitching. I'll be sure to post the results of that when it happens: )
