A Late Late Tribute To The Last Forest

in art •  5 years ago

Once upon a time on Steem there was a little writing challenge by @calluna. About five months ago its deadline came and went to become history. A little fan of such good titles and concepts had a history of his own. A history of missing the great titles and concepts that came and went.

But he still dreamed of taking part in these challenges as life happened all around him and left him with no time to sit and type a forest into oblivion.

And still, one day, while testing new watercolors, he painted the shortest story with the title The Last Forest there was.

It did not begin, it did not end. It just was. Not quite happy, he tried to edit it...or rewrite it in watercolor.

But even watercolor stories need patience and work. And he had less than enough. And so The Last Forest came not to pass.

Alas.

Thinking of writing, dreaming of drawing, editing photos like there's no tomorrow for this concrete forest I live in,

Yours,

Manol

This is just so beautiful it makes me want to write poetry and dream of deserts, oasis, islands, sunsets, jungles, the lost and the found, it is indeed a story. I could stare at this for hours, it is an active effort not to burst into poetry for you right now lol, but I would love to be able to frame this!

And because this is so magically I lirterally cant help myself!

hark! The ark!
The last of their kind.
Huddled together,
On a boat of hope,
That will never sail,
But spreads it seeds
And the last of the green.

The forest said Thankya! And moved on.

Another sad fact is...I am so unskilled in watercolor and I don't know when to stop. Those were on the same sheet of paper which I tried developing further and one side is completely blurred now (the lower image is no more), the other is just...worse for all the additional paint I tried applying.

The last forest is a very good title!

And I did not answer in time with a story to fit it ;) Thanks for stopping by!

With pleasure!

How lovely and poetic, @manoldonchev! And a beautiful watercolor too.

Thank you! Of course, there are things in there that I like. Good beginnings, at least. Never finished. But I will start anew someday.

Who or what is the author, the painter, the forest? Maybe it's all one, like some of the sages say.
I like this story and paintings a lot.
