The process of creating these designs was inspired by the beauty and artistry of Molas made by the Kuna Indian women of Central America. Molas are hand sewn using a process known as reverse appliqué. Layers of brightly colored fabric are basted together and a design is drawn on the uppermost layer. The Mola is then crafted by cutting away the various layers of fabric to reveal the underlying colors. Molas often depict pairs of animals, fish and birds done in a bold decorative style.
♦ Working with her hand-painted papers, Linda created this Collection using the basic concept of reverse appliqué.The design emerges by cutting away successive layers of color.
