3D art, Mustang - mental ray render

in art •  7 years ago

Hello Steemians!

Today I wanted to show you some of my past work. It was done in 2010 so its reaaaally old but it was one of the first models I made after endless weeks of understanding the software, surprisingly the workflow hasn't change since then meaning you start from creating the blueprints of a car for yourself just so you can place vertices/edges in right place.

As for blueprints here is rough idea what I'm talking about:

blueprints.PNG

It was rendered in Mental ray inside of 3ds max aplication, and it took long time because my PC parts were not very good

Right now I'm tempted to rework and rerender it inside a diffrent render engine but I will see if I would have time for such task :)

In case you missed the Introduceyourself post I made here it is Introducemyself post

I read this post, and your introduction post as well. You have some quality stuff here. I don't have experience with the software you work with. Any recommendation or your view on different types of software?

As for me, I tried, Blender, ( long time ago) Maya, (still using it for certain projects) ,XSI and It felt awkard, I guess once you are used to some software it is hard to change it later.
But many people in the industry are encouraging me to try blender again as a main reason why they say it is for modeling speed and overall flexibility.
Also there is second group of people that encourage me to try MODO - apparently this one has also have some modeling speed boost and nice automaticated scripts that help you model faster.
It would take two or three solid weeks of work to get used to some software and only then one could say opinion about a software and it experiences.
I will definetly try MODO in the near future just to see if it is acually better than 3ds max that people say.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. MODO is the next thing for you i guess :) I will have it in mind, but as you sad, TIME is a bit of a problem. For Blender probably the best thing is that it is free, and the community that is sharing and learning from each other.
