🔵 Paint a simple Easter egg with your kids - using salt and alcohol

Hello guys, I am here with another simple watercolor tutorial for you and your kids. It is quite simple technique for beginners. You can also try reactions between watercolors, salt and alcohol.

You do not need some expensive watercolor paper for it. At the end you can use white acrylic paint to make some ornaments.

So first make an outline. You can use ruller to draw lines. Then think about colors. Choose some nice combination. It is good to use flat brush, because we need to achieve traight lines at the edges.

Be sure to use enough water. While the paint is wet add salt or alcohol. I used alcohol for the first stripe. Apply it with the tip of a brush. The result will be white dots.

Salt has to be also used on wet paint. While alcohol makes nice round dots, salt creation is more unequal. After drying just remove salt from the paper.

Now patterns. I used white acrylic paint. You can try also different colors and I am sure the result will be nice!

Ooh yes, that's a great idea. I've used the wax resist method on actual eggs, i.e. Ukrainian eggs, and I've tried to simplify that technique with crayons (because they're waxy). Your example here will work better for my little kids, I'm thinking. The "masking" concept is a good lesson to learn for a young artist, and it'll work well on paper with the watercolor resist fluid.

how wonderful it is, how to do it is also very easy with stuff that is easy to get around us, this is very creative work, i will do it with my son, thanks for the lesson

good luck with it :)

Oh dear! I didn't know it was possible to use alcohol and salt into the watercoloring process! ♥ Thank you so much for this small tutorial, I'm actually working in a little piece with wathercolors and this will help me so so much for a couple of parts ♥
I wish you the best! The final result of your easter egg is lovely! I adore how the contrast of purple and yellow stands up so much <3
