🔹The simplest watercolored Christmas card - tutorial

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi everyone, if you want to craft some Chrismas cards I have some ideas for you in my previous post. If you do not have any punches and you prefer painting, this may be something for you.

You will need watercolors, watercol paper 9x13cm, white acrylic paint, two brushes - bigger and thinner.

It is one of the simplest painting you can make, yet beautiful. The process is really easy to follow. You can try to make one with your kids too.

🔹 First you need to paint the backround. In this case it is the sky. Use dark blue with a little bit of black. You can add a small amount of water at the end, so there will be some soaked parts of lighter paint. It looks like clouds then.

Also make some strokes under the sky with light blue.

🔹 Now you can paint the trees. Use thin brush and really dark green. It is almost black.

Finaly after drying use the totbrush to bark white acrylic paint on it. You will achieve nice snow impresson.

Now just fold the A5 paper and stick it with your painting. Now your card is done.

thanks so much, hope you results will be beautiful :)

Wow, again you make this look so easy. Maybe if I have time I will try my hand out at making some homemade cards this year. We will see as I would have to get supplies, but your stuff is just so beautiful and your tutorials so helpful. Thanks for sharing this.

Glad to hear :) I create them mostly because of my students.. trying new simple things which they can do too ... it is nice when i know it is an inspiration for more people.

Hi Marty, I see you created quite some nice christmas cards. Great results!

I wanted to propose you to use also the #CreativeWintertime tag when posting.
The idea is following : if everybody making winter/christmas/NYE crafts uses this tag we have a great central place and can inspire each other for this type of activities.
I will regularly post a cumulative overview of all of the tutorials.

Hope you like this idea and will join me!

PS : just upvoted all your 3 cards tutorials :D

hello, thanks so much, thast great idea :) I will use that tag.. look forward to see more christmas creations :)

Great! Thanksies!

@marty-arts - I think it takes someone very skillful to make something look easy (thanks for putting the process because it makes things so much clearer), but this one is definitely something that I am keen to try out for myself :)

great, hope you will find it easy too :)
