Male body pencil drawing-today's art practice

in art •  6 years ago

i made a mistake. i didn't draw anything yesterday.
and i made a promise to myself that i would draw every single day.
i skipped yesterday just because i wasn't feeling good. but making art was supposed to make me feel better in any condition, so thats not a good excuse.

so instead of doing rough sketches i made a smother sketch today.
though at first i wanted to use cross hatching mode to shade this drawing but then i had to change my mind because cross hatching doesn't really goes with skin shading.

i searched for black and white image of this sort and picked one that i thought i could draw.

here is the final drawing:

i used .5 and .7 mechanical pencil with hb and 2b lead, two kinds of blending stamp for blending the strokes.

of course i focused totally on the body, so i didn't draw the face.
there was no face on the reference image so i couldn't figure out what kind of face would look good on this body.

also it got kind of small so i couldn't draw the fingers, even shading is very difficult if things get too small. even though the body is in a good size, fingers obviously would be small and thats when the trouble begins.

i took about three process shots.
here they are:

Man, I too keep telling myself to draw at least once a day, but college life just sucks the time away. Good for you that you got to practice! The shadows and lights seemed well understood. Great job! :)

thank you.... its not necessary that you have to finish what you start exactly that day, may be you can just start and try giving that 10-20minutes every day.... that should work
